Troubleshooting Price Detection Issues

Note: This guide addresses common problems with price detection and tracking in Lio Price Browser.

While Lio Price Browser is designed to detect and track prices accurately across a wide range of websites, you may occasionally encounter issues with detection or tracking. This guide will help you troubleshoot and resolve these problems.

Problem: No Products Detected during Automatic Detection

Sometimes the automatic detection feature doesn't find any products on a page.

Solution:

  1. Make sure you're on a product page, not a category or search results page
  2. Enable Network Traffic Capture in Settings to improve detection capabilities
  3. Try scrolling down to ensure all page elements are loaded before detection
  4. Wait for any dynamic content to finish loading
  5. Use Manual Price Selection mode as an alternative

Specific site advice:

  • On Amazon, make sure you're on a product detail page, not a variant selection page
  • On sites with multiple prices (like sale vs. original), try manual selection

Problem: Incorrect Price Detected

Sometimes the app may detect the wrong price, such as "Sale" text or a related product price.

Solution:

  1. Cancel the automatic detection process
  2. Use the Manual Price Selection mode instead (the dollar sign icon)
  3. Carefully tap on the exact price element you want to track
  4. If multiple prices appear (like original and sale prices), select the one you want to track
  5. Confirm your selection and verify the price is correct before adding

Pro Tip: Pinch to zoom in on the page before selecting a price to make precise selection easier on densely packed pages.

Problem: Price Not Updating

A tracked price isn't updating even though you know the price has changed on the website.

Solution:

  1. Manually refresh the item by tapping the refresh button next to it
  2. Open the item details and tap "Visit Site" to check if the page layout has changed
  3. If the website has changed its design, delete the item and add it again
  4. Enable Network Traffic Capture in Settings if it's not already on
  5. Check your internet connection reliability

Common causes:

  • Some websites load prices dynamically which can be difficult to detect
  • The website may have changed its layout or HTML structure
  • The product might be out of stock or no longer available
  • Region-specific pricing or currency changes can affect detection

Problem: Manual Price Selection Not Highlighting Prices

When using manual selection mode, no prices are being highlighted as you move your finger.

Solution:

  1. Make sure the page has fully loaded
  2. Try reloading the page and entering manual selection mode again
  3. Move your finger slowly across different parts of the page
  4. Try zooming in on the area containing the price
  5. Check if the price is displayed as an image rather than text (which can't be selected)

Important Note: Some websites display prices as images or use unusual techniques to render prices that can't be selected. In these cases, you may need to manually check prices.

Problem: Tracked Prices Show "Error" or "Failed to Update"

Items in your tracked list show error messages instead of prices.

Solution:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Try manually refreshing the item
  3. Open the item details and tap "Visit Site" to check if the product still exists
  4. Clear the browser cache in Settings > Data Management
  5. If the product has been removed or the URL has changed, delete the item and add it again

Additional checks:

  • Some sites block automated browsers; try using Safari Integration to access the site first
  • Temporary server issues at the retailer might cause temporary failures
  • Regional restrictions might prevent access to some sites

Problem: Prices Update But Don't Match the Website

The app is successfully updating prices, but they don't match what you see on the website.

Solution:

  1. Check if you're viewing the same product variant (size, color, etc.)
  2. Verify if the website shows different prices based on your location or account status
  3. Some sites display different prices before adding to cart or at checkout
  4. Delete the item and add it again using Manual Price Selection to pick the exact price element
  5. Check if the currency setting in the app matches the website

Common situation: Some retailers show personalized prices based on your browsing history or account. The app may capture the standard price while you see a personalized one.
